Empty Eggshells

Four weeks ago, i discovered 11 turkey eggs in a nearby nest. I’ve been keeping an eye on the motionless hen ever since. Then, on a chilly, rainy day, i saw the eggshells, but no turkeys. The next day, i went to the nest and saw the empty eggshells.

Two days later, a lone hen strolled through our yard with no poults. They didn’t survive the weather. Ahh, Nature.

The turkey eggshells are beautiful–cream colored with gold flecks.

Soon enough, the beautiful carcasses we walk around in will be empty shells.
