Chameleon Camouflage

A chameleon (or two) runs around the patio of our Airbnb condo in Puerto Rico. I caught it trying to sneak into the house last night. When i wasn’t looking, at breakfast, it climbed up on my glass to take a drink of juice. What a rascal!

Our very own minds are rascals too. Self-critical thoughts. Self-judgment. Even self-hatred can fly under the radar until we bring mindfulness to the mind–a very slippery object of meditation.  All camouflaged by the yada-yada-yada of the mind.

It takes attentiveness to keep the mind on the high road of kindness, compassion, appreciation, and calm, because that rascal mind wants to slip in the door without your noticing.
