Robin is Back in Town

Robin Redbreast is back in town–a sure sign of spring.

Robins are the early birds that get the worm, but around here,  jumping worms have invaded our yards, gardens, and forests. Worms are rampant even in the nearby National Forest. The robins could eat their fill and still not make a dent in the worm population.

The jumping worms are still dormant eggs in the soil, invisible to the naked eye. They won’t hatch till the soil warms up to 50 degrees.

Spring arrives no matter what is invading our minds.
