Last Summer’s Petunias

Last summer’s petunias are blooming in one of the flowerpots i brought in from the front step in October. The by-then leggy petunias continued to hang over the edges of the pot for a couple of months, then gradually turned brown. I was careful not to pull the plant out by the roots, but simply clip it off at the level of the dirt. And now, 3 months later…. Petunias!

When you practice qualities of the heart, you never know when it might bloom. Gratitude, kindness, goodwill, compassion, calm. Weeks go by, months pass, sometimes, years. Then, suddenly, there it is in full bloom.

Love those petunias!
