Circulator

I have learned from experience that our little fishpond needs to be aerated in the winter because the two dozen goldfish in the pond need oxygen in the water. They have to breathe too.

My sweetie fusses with the little circulating pump so that it will hang just right–an inch under the surface, circulating water to create an opening in the ice. In the past week, he has taken the pump, which is about the size of a printer cartridge, out of the pond three times. Finally, last night at 8 p.m., at 23 degrees, we re-installed it in the dark. This afternoon, it was merrily bubbling away, having created a hole in the ice.

When we are hibernating in the winter, what sustains us? I’m thinking meditation and maybe some good Dharma reading.

What Dharma book(s) are you reading this winter?

  1. Yes! Meditation and dharma reading. Last month I read two books by Karen Maezen Miller: “Hand wash cold” and “Paradise in plain sight.” I just finished reading “Stepping out of self-deception” by Rodney Smith. Next up is “Ordinary Wonder” by Charlotte Joko Beck.

  2. Hello Cheryl, I have just finished Sebene Selassie’s new(ish) book “You Belong.” I’m also reading a book by Koshin Paley Ellison, “Whole Hearted”.
    What are you reading?
